May 2011

Welcome to the ITS monthly newsletter!

We know the Canucks Playoffs are stressful, and we don’t want using your computer to feel the same way. This month we are going to talk about a NAS storage solution. Plus, ITS has new monitor for sale, we will show you some easy shortcuts on your keyboard, and fun events happening in Vancouver during the month of May.

STORAGE

It’s spring cleaning time!  Do you need more storage?  If you do, a NAS may be a great soltuion for archiving, file storage, or as an ftp server.

What is a NAS?

A Network Attached Storage (NAS) device provides networked storage, meaning it can store data from more than one device. Whether you are a company that has a few users or hundreds, a NAS is a great solution for archiving, file storage, as an ftp server, or many other options.

The administrator of a home or business network can connect a NAS to their LAN (Local Area Network), and using software that normally is provided with the NAS hardware. A network administrator can set up automatic or manual backups and file copies between the NAS and other connected devices. A NAS can hold as much data as currently available drive capacity exists.

A NAS is a great option for a company that wants to take some of the load off their server and put archived documents on the device.  This option can also be for a company that has either a server that is fairly new and is running out of space, or just a few users that want a storage device but do not need the added complexity of a server.

If this sounds like something that could benefit your company contact us here, and we can provide you with more information on how a NAS can be integrated into your company’s environment and  provide you with a free quote.
